premier bands, blends Jump Blues, Big Band Style Jazz
and Classic
Vocal Standards into a sophisticated yet dynamic live

High Times is one of the hottest bands in the Northeast!
This highly respected band presents a tour de force in
Classic American Popular Music, showcasing the music
of legends such
as Frank Sinatra, Nat "King" Cole,
and Duke Ellington. Additionally, High Times specializes in early Rhythm
and Blues styles that prevailed just before the advent
of Rock & Roll.
Active since 1979, they have played to packed clubs, concert halls and
ballrooms
throughout the Northeast, including Hartford, Providence, Newport, Buffalo,
and Boston. |

"This
five member group regularly draws audiences that relfect all
age levels.
They have, in effect, bridged the generation
gap that is most often most pronounced in the appreciation of
music."
"
The beat is lively, their vocals sometimes almost eloquent and
the instrumentals - simply superb"
- New London Day
Groups like High Times
have brought swing into the modern era, and have been remarkably
successful in their attempts to fuse elements
of rock to the more traditional forms of swing music."
"
They have, of course, been greatly influenced by jazz. They could
not have learned to play their instruments so well, and with such
a solid, jazz-influenced quality, unless this were the case."
-
Robert Risko
"They [High Times] are performers churning out a contagious,
infectious form of swing and rhythm & blues sprinkled here
and there with Steely Dan and Weather Report and Van Morrison."
"
We don't really have one solo, out-front person," explains
Skip Marquardt. "The music aside, you have to communicate
with the audience. You have to make the audience pop. Our performance
is based on zaniness and frivoulousness. That and good music and
good musicians."
This crew doesn't need very much coaxing, they are off-the-wall
by nature. It is an extrememly tight group of extremely good
natured guys."
- The Eagle
